Open Call: Issue 01

2G4

Whatever your passion, if you share 2G4’s desire to bring people together, there’s room for you with us in our first print issue, anticipated November 2026.

At 2G4 we want to bring people together, nowhere more so than in the pages of our first print magazine. Aiming to publish in November 2026, we’re opening our figurative arms (and our literal inbox) to all comers. Whether you’re a writer, an artist, a photographer, a poet, or whatever else, if what we’re doing resonates with you, we wanna know what you’ve got. If you’re a curator of your own third space — a bar, a gallery, a theatre, or whatever else — and you think you have a story that’s right for our pages, we want to hear from you, too.

Our first issue will carry three broad themes:

  1. Live music, and European music culture in particular. From festivals and grand multinational tours down to intimate pub gigs, open mics, and buskers on the street, it all fits the bill.

  2. ‘Third spaces in the first space’ — that is, social events at home. Think supper clubs, games nights, book clubs and the like.

  3. ‘Quality as a formative element’ — or how nerding out on the details can establish a community. Wine wankers, coffee snobs, artisans of any kind, whether it’s curated decor or product provenance from seed to plate, let’s have it.

These themes are only a starting point, and really if there’s anything on your mind that fits our broader remit of championing the spaces we share, we’d love to hear about it. We’ll work with you to edit the piece, and beyond our scope we have just one condition: no generative AI, please. Contributors are compensated, and we’re happy to talk through that before you start.

Early submissions are encouraged, and submission guidelines are below. Contact us using our About page, or get in touch directly at eds@2g4.uk. We’re looking forward to hearing your ideas. ⚭

Submission Info

We’re interested in creative non-fiction and photography, primarily, but we’ll also consider fiction pieces, poetry, artwork, and whatever else you think might fit the bill.

Please include in your cover letter / email: name (and any nom de plume), pronouns, two to three sentences about yourself, contact info (email essential, tel/WhatsApp encouraged), and a brief description of your piece or idea (max. 200 words for assessment).

Written pieces themselves should be no longer than 5,000 words, and speculative submissions are encouraged — we’re keen to workshop ideas in the early stages, the sooner the better. Preferred submission format: Google Docs or Word.

We’ll consider previously published work; details of previous submission or publication should be provided.
